Walkthrough 2: Abyss Stairway

Abyss Stairway is the castle’s hub: it has no boss and few rooms, but the paths to the Audience Room, Eternal Corridor and Underground Waterway all branch off from here, and you will pass through it many times.

Goals

• Head to Audience Room.

Key Points

• None of the three exits on the right side of the map can be passed yet; head straight for the topmost exit.
• Slime and Axe Armor drop the cards Venus and Mandragora. They appear again in later areas, so it is fine if you do not get them here.
• Watch out for Slime; touching it poisons you.

• The Gremlin in the long vertical shaft are all replaced by Gargoyle.
• An exit at the top, reachable only by wall-kicking, leads to Eternal Corridor.

After defeating Adramelech (Iron maidens destroyed)

• The exit that was blocked by an iron maiden is now open and leads to Underground Waterway. Without Cleansing, though, the poison water in the waterway drains about 7.5% of max HP per second, so get the Cleansing from Underground Warehouse before taking this route.

After defeating Dragon Zombie (Heavy Ring obtained)

• Coming back from Underground Gallery, you come out of this area’s exit.

After defeating Camilla (Roc Wing obtained)
